“We are very excited and extremely honoured to win an award of this caliber so soon after we’ve entered the market,” says Chris Pollock, Marketing Manager for BC Tree Fruits Cider Co. “This recognition speaks volumes to the quality of this product. It really is a premium cider.”
1,642 beverages from 196 breweries were examined across 98 categories. 90 brew masters, beer journalists and certified judges, adjudicated the awards. Three categories looked at cider and of six awards only three cideries were honoured. BC Tree Fruits Cider was one of five participating cideries from Canada and the only to be recognized in a cider category.
Broken Ladder is a secret blend of six local BC Tree Fruit apple varieties picked from Okanagan orchards. The premium craft cider, is well balanced, golden in colour with no added sugar or flavours. It proudly lists only one ingredient on the can – apples. Broken Ladder, is naturally gluten-free, with a traditional full bodied, refreshing taste and 5.2% alcohol.
“We’ve been pleasantly surprised at how popular this cider has been so quickly,” shares Pollock. “We had high expectations for Broken Ladder but have been blown away by the positive response from consumers and now international award recognition. We are definitely looking to move beyond BC and into Alberta with Broken Ladder and other cider products.”
